The prestigious International Beer Challenge awards Haacht Brewery four medals

Primus is named the best lager in the world

The competition recognizes and promotes the world’s best beers. This year, breweries from 40 countries competed in more than 80 categories. Once again, Haacht Brewery was among the award-winning products. Primus won the gold medal for the first time in the Lager – Pils category, a wonderful recognition for the brewery’s classic beer. And that’s not all—in addition to this gold medal, Haacht Brewery also took home awards in other categories. In the Ale – Belgian Continental Style Blonds category, Haacht Brewery even swept two awards: a silver medal for Tongerlo Blond and a bronze for SUPER 8 Flandrien. Finally, SUPER 8 IPA won silver in the Ale – Belgian Style IPA category .

With Primus being crowned the world’s best pilsner, it’s clear that the beer is a hit with both beer experts and the general public. Boudewijn van der Kelen, CEO of Brouwerij Haacht, explains Primus’s success: “The gold medal demonstrates that our classic pilsner is of high quality and that our expertise is recognized worldwide. Competition in the pilsner category is fierce, so we’re very proud of this gold medal. The distinctive SUPER 8 Flandrien and the hoppy SUPER 8 IPA have already won numerous awards in recent years. Although the SUPER 8 beers have only been around for 5 years, the beers in the series have already been honored 18 times with various prestigious awards. “The silver medals prove that with these beers—just like the entire SUPER 8 family—we’re succeeding in innovating. It motivates us once again to build on the success of this series, ” said Boudewijn van der Kelen.
