Haacht Brewery Continues to Invest in a Sustainable Water Treatment Process
Water is an essential resource for our brewery: we use it not only to brew our beverages, but also for various operational tasks such as cleaning kettles, bottles, and trucks. For sustainability reasons, it’s important to be mindful of water—its quality and consumption. That’s why our water treatment plant recently received a major upgrade, thanks to our partnership with Pantarein.

We have replaced our old aerators with a system that blows fine air bubbles through the water. This results in healthier sludge and better conditions for the bacteria that break down pollutants in the water. As a result, pollutants are broken down more efficiently, while we consume less energy.

The excess sludge is thickened and removed. Thanks to automation, we have better control over the entire process. The removed sludge is then fermented and used as a raw material for green bioenergy.

We have upgraded our hardware and software components to ensure reliable and sustainable operation of the wastewater treatment plant. This allows us to measure, evaluate, and make adjustments at every stage of the process. More efficient chemical dosing also ensures greater safety for our operators and better protection of the environment.
Together, we will continue to invest in a greener future and in reducing our brewery’s environmental impact.
