SUPER 8 Now Also Available in Non-Alcoholic Versions: Haacht Brewery Launches Two New 0.0 Beers, Rouge and Flandrien

Haacht Brewery is expanding its product lineup to cater to the ever-growing group of flexi-drinkers

Haacht Brewery is launching two non-alcoholic beers. The new SUPER 8 Rouge 0.0 and SUPER 8 Flandrien 0.0 are available starting today in restaurants and bars. With these new offerings, the family-owned brewery is targeting an ever-growing group of flexi-drinkers and a younger audience looking for tasty non-alcoholic alternatives to craft beers. With these new beers, Haacht Brewery aims to capture a 5% market share. “We’ve taken our time to brew high-quality, delicious 0.0 beers. The result is two non-alcoholic beers that are low in calories and sugar and closely resemble our classics in taste, says the family-owned brewery.

Non-alcoholic beers are gradually but surely carving out a permanent place in Belgians’ shopping carts and on the drink menus of restaurants and bars. In 2023 alone, sales of non-alcoholic beers in our country grew by 17% in volume and by nearly a quarter in revenue. According to Haacht Brewery, this is because more and more beer drinkers are becoming so-called “flexi-drinkers.” These are beer lovers who consciously alternate between traditional beer and non-alcoholic varieties.

“We’re seeing a trend where drinking lager is giving way to sampling craft beers, among both men and women—and especially young people. That’s why we’re now launching two non-alcoholic SUPER 8 varieties. We brew the new SUPER 8 Rouge 0.0 with real cherry juice. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also lower in calories than the market average. For our SUPER 8 Flandrien 0.0, we’ve managed to preserve the distinctive flavor of oak and vanilla while also keeping the calorie count very low. In short: we’re expanding our lineup with high-quality non-alcoholic beers that don’t compromise on flavor.” Philippe Michiels, spokesperson for Haacht Brewery.

Distillation

To brew its new 0.0 beers, Haacht Brewery uses a distillation-based process.

“This means that our new beers go through the normal brewing process, and that we remove the alcohol from the beer afterward. To preserve the beer’s typical character and flavor, we reintroduce the aromatic compounds—which evaporate during the distillation process—back into the beer. This is a process we’ve worked on with the necessary patience and have therefore taken our time with. Haacht Brewery has taken the time to introduce distinctive and flavorful varieties, which significantly enrich the market for non-alcoholic beers.” Philippe Michiels of Haacht Brewery.

Haacht Brewery is exploring other opportunities for innovation.
